The Dominica Cadet Corps traces its roots back to the Dominica Grammar School (DGS), where it was founded in 1910 as a pioneering youth leadership program. Designed to instill discipline, integrity, and leadership skills, the Corps shaped generations of young Dominicans who grew to become civic leaders, Prime Ministers, and Presidents, leaving an indelible mark on the nation’s history.
For many, the Cadet Corps was a transformative experience, fostering the self-discipline and character that underpinned their success. However, despite its legacy, the Cadet Corps fell dormant in 1978, leaving a void in youth development programs.
In 2000, thanks to the tireless efforts of Gabriel Christian & Associates and the unwavering support of Rosie Douglas, Dominica’s independence movement leader and then Prime Minister, the Cadet Corps was revived. This renaissance ensured the continuation of its proud tradition of shaping future leaders and instilling a spirit of service in Dominica’s youth.
